Where does everybody have their CB's mounted? I can't really seem to find a decent place for mine. Does somebody sell some sort of bracket for the Ram?

Thanks

I have a Cobra from WAL-MART. Its case hase an upper and lower. I unscrewed the upper/top case from the CB, drilled 4 holes in it and screwed the upper/top case into the dash directly to the left of that magic cup holder thats in the middle of the bottom dash. I then simply screwed the CB back onto the upper case. You have an extra 12 outlet there as well to tap into. Go to radio shack and get the male end that plugs into the cig lighter 12 volt acces. hole and splice you +/- wires into it. No cutting of wires under the dash, just plug the CB into the cig lighter acces.

I built a flat wooden bracket that is bolted to the frame of the two fron seats. I painted it to match the leather seats. My Cobra is mounted to the front of this. I drilled holes out the bottom of the cab just outside the two front seats. (I have twin antennas mounted to the front of the truck box. ) I ran the cable and harness wires under the seat, cut slash in the rug under the seat and ran the antenna wire to the holes I had drilled in the floor. Make sure you place grommets on these holes before funning wire. I then sealed the holes with silicone. I had stainless steel "L" shaped brackets made about 13" long and used stainless steel bolts to mount these to the front of the box. Then sprayed the brackets to match the truck. Antennas remove with a twist and are stored under the back seat. Works great!!!!!

Try Michael Brolin-TDR member. He makes/made a nice CB bracket that mounts in front of the center seat-I had to modify it a bit because I also own the 2001 six speed, and his was designed for an auto. The mod is not hard, and I'm happy with the bracket. If you have the CupSmoothie from Geno's Garage you have to trim it up a bit also, to reach all the controls on the radio.
Mike-if you read this-my pictures of the installed bracket/radio didn't come out very well- but just twist the bottom brace at about 15 degrees-right side towards seat-that should take care of it. Dave

There is a really neat C. B. mount listed near the bottom of the classified advertising for new product tests. Its built and sold by a TDR member, and looks good. Check it out.
You're right about a place to mout radios. I'm a ham radio operator, and as big as the Rams are, they are VERY radio unfriendly!

I posted a similar question several weeks back. One of the members sent me an e-mail stating he bought the Cobra unit below. I have since done likewise. Everything is in the hand-held unit. Very small and unobtrusive. Combined with a good Firestik antenna, it works fine.
However, if you already have an exisitng CB, this bit of info is worthless.

Anyway, maybe it will be of help.
