No holes in dash, I cut out the headliner between the sun visors and mounted it there. Had some holes under roof for one of those fancy upper console thingamajiggies to bolt the cb mount to. :D Sure makes you think and measure twice before firing up the razor blade. :D

This is not the best picture but it is a Mike Brolin mount.

I used to have a mount similar to the Brolin mount, it worked real well. I've since gotten the Geno's Cup Smoothie (from my Wife for Christmas), and that blocked the CB. So, since I have an auto, and didn't need the cup holders anymore, I removed them, bought the dash pocket that 5 speeds have and mounted the CB to it. If I ever sell the truck, I can just take the map pocket out, and put the cup holder back in. The map pocket cost about $25, in color.

CB Mount

When I do install mine, I intend to velcro it to the dash, just below the cubby hole in front of the stick and 4x4 stick.

I used the adhesive backed velcro to mount the trailer brake controller as well.

In theory, it will dampen some of the vibration, as well as being very quick and easy to install.

The only drawback I can think of is about removing the adhesive velcro strip from the dash without ruining the finish, but since I intend to keep mine for a long time, I'm not too worried about it, and I suspect it would affect resale about as much as having a bunch of holes.

Well I know this probably won't help much but I went through this same dilemma a while back. I finally figured that I had no choice so I mounted my radios on the cupholder. Unfortunately, I can't use the cupholder anymore since I had to bolt it in to hold the weight of the radios, but it is very convenient when changing channels, etc. With a manual, you have even less choices but when I get my next truck, I am going to remove the seat and install a console. Anyway, here is a pic of the current setup.

i have a six speed. and dont have the cup holder. so i pulled that out and ran my bolts threww the back part to hold my bracket. but you got to bolt the raidio up with the cubby hole out. then bolt cubby hole back in place. like you i dont like holes in dash. dont know how to get pic up yet. but you can look in readers rigs under ecarny. it the big pretty blue one. hope this helps

I have a '99 5-speed and a cup smoothie. The Midland radio I have now has just enough interference with the sides of the map pocket that it stays put without a mount and screws. There is plenty of room for the wiring. The mic holder is mounted on the front of the smoothie for easy access. Nothing fancy but it is simple and works. I ran the power cord all the way to the battery with an in-line fuse. If I want to work in the yard and listen to the radio chatter-no problem.

The angle of the cb in the map holder makes it easy to see the controls and within reach... ... ...

I screwed holes in the dash

I have a 6 spd 4X4. I mounted my Cobra 29WX NightHawk over the cubby hole. Fits and looks good, shifter clears fine, good visibility and reachable. I put two strips of campershell rubber stripping on top of radio, so no squeaks or other noises.

I've even thought about cutting out the bottom of cubby hole an fitting CB up in it. Not there yet, though.

Hope this helps.
