I bought a 4 foot stick of galvanized angle, approx. 1. 5" by 1. 5", with pre-drilled holes at Home Depot and some short 1/4" screws with nylon lock nuts.
I removed the center seat section and did some measuring. What I eneded up with was (2) short sections (about 6 inches each) of angle running length-wise bolted to the bottom of the ceter section and a longer piece of the angle bolted to the two runners. That gave a flat face with a bunch of holes just in front of and below the center seat. I ground all the corners down and kinda rounded them to keep from having bloody ankle incidents. When I was building it I thought it would be sticking out more, but you'd really have to work to get an ankle skinned by the mount.
I have enough room for the CB and a scanner. If there is no radio mounted you can't really see the bracket unless you bend down to look. I was going for easy removal and future additions. Quick, cheap and out of the way.
