I have the 5 speed and had the useless cubby thing so I cut it out and then made my own mount, I really like the way it turned out.

I wanted to use the mount Bob is showing but my radio is rather large and would've stuck up far beyond the edge of the seat.

Mine now looks like Tim's, but considering I have an '01 w/ the auto, I just screwed my mounting bracket to the stock cupholder in the "up" position and mounted it to that. Can still use my middle seat and it's a clean install. Will take a pic this afternoon hopefully.

Oh, a Cup Smoothie is a requirement for mounting one the way I did, however EVERYONE should have one of those already, so it's not a factor ;)

Ok, here's my pics:

I have a 5spd with the 4x4 and didn't have room to mount mine like the above picture, I use the middle seat, and already have a brake controller installed to the lift of the gear shifts. So, I made a bracket and bolted it through my dash. Looks pretty good.

Mine's mounted like snowracer69's for now. I'm going to eventually move it up and replace the piece of junk cup holder on my 94.

Heres mine, Bought the center console cooler and mounted it to the front of it.

Hey Bob do you have a bracket to fit the 03's. I got a Uniden 2510 I've been thinking about mounting in my truck.

I, too, am looking for ideas for my '04. What have y'all done?

Bob, I have my 99 ctd 5 speed, will I loose the big cup holder? I use that one quite often. Thanks

Jake

PigPen you will loose nothing, works perfect with stock cupholder and cup smoothie too

Bob, I have a uniden scanner that I am going to install in my truck. I do not have the stock bracket that came with the scanner. Is this something I will need to get? or does the kit supply it?

Thanks

Jake

I Lost my useless cup launcher in my 96

mounted my Connex 3300 HP in dash where my cup holder WAS located. i also installed a galaxy frequency counter where my ashtray was once located.

it makes things pretty handy and looks pretty slick at night time.

Here's how I did it in my '97. Removed stock cup holder (2 screws) and made cardboard template then transfered to aluminum and cut piece to fit hole. Cut hole for radio to fit through, painted black then used existing screws/holes to hold new insert with radio in place. Mic is hanging on a clip that is clipped onto ashtray so I didn't have to drill the dash. Only drawback is that mic cord hangs over cd slot so it is a bit inconvenient to insert a cd. I never liked the cupholder up high like as it blocks a good portion of the windshield.

I looked at many options when installing mine and ended up choosing a Cell Phone mount from a local shop. This allowed me to minimize cutting and drilling (so if I ever had to remove it would not hurt reselling value) and also provided a clean look. I also added a CB Slide mount so that I could remove the radio. I have an example in my rig link just incase the pic does not upload.
