This can be a problem with any cockpit radio. I have both the Cobra 75 and a HAM Dual Band. I solved the volume problem by running an external speaker for each radio that clip onto the visor. Works great!!;)

So let me get this straight. After all the whining about your crash you want to buy a CB to alert speeders. Also, after looking at the pictures you posted of your wreck and your description of what happened, who pulled out in front of whom? And this guy came out of nowhere on a straight road? Oh well, maybe it's just me. (60mph?).

Like ive said before... the kid was on the wrong side of the street i couldnt see him because of trees... If he wasnt on the wrong side of the street this wouldnt have happen. .

And yes i want to help out the semis who arent from around here because the police have a speed trap set up for semis and pull them over ALL DAY LONG... . Its not fair for them at all. .

And let me say something else buddy dont come out at me like you did, i dont appreciate it.

I use an old Cobra 18WXST. I've used it in about 3 different trucks over the last 6 years. It's nothing spectacular but allows me to listen to the truckers, contribute to traffic and speed trap reports on occasion and listen to weather when I need it.

I agree with manganos that you should spend money on a decent antenna. On a stock cb at 4 watts, a better antenna will obviously get your signal out farther. I use a wilson 500 which has served me well (~5' mag mount).

I had to stop at a radio shack to buy a cheapie antenna (storms forecasted, had cb but no antenna) and found a decent mag-mount for $25. It worked well during my last road trip. Boy, you should have seen the dust on the package!
