To go along with my 2m Ham radio in my truck I also have a Texas Ranger CB. I just installed it in the truck. Normally when you key the mic you will see the power meter needle rise (move to the right) to the output wattage of the radio, then see the needle modulate as you talk. When I key the mike the needle moves all the way to the left and does not modulate as I talk.

I had the radio in my other truck and it worked fine. I checked to make sure it was not a problem in the mic by haveing a friend try it in his truck and it checked out OK.

So where should I go now? And Ideas on what to check next?

Thank you,

Jason

How long has it been since you had it in your other truck? Did you try the mic AND CB in your friends truck? This is where talkback helps alot, a must for all CB's IMO. Have you tried another mic on this Texas Ranger while in the truck its in now? Mic screwed on tight. I wouldn't think its a power supply or standing wave- antenna, coax problem. No modulation usually is in the mic or radio itself. What kind of mic?

Quick reply here. Heading to the inlaws to do some work around their house.

It is a brand new Astatic Mic. Tried the mic on a friends Galaxy radio and worked perfectly.

Got to go... ... ... ... .

It's been a while for me, but it almost sounds like the swr/cal switch is in the wrong position. Just a shot on the dark.

Good Luck
