New Dodge Truck Engine? 36K HP .........

I am considering putting in a CB and possibly
setting up the 2 antenna system. RadioShack
has a dual ant. setup with fiberglas sticks
that would look well on top a headache rack.
Problem is they are apparently fed in phase
and supposed to be 1/4 wavelength apart, they
say 100 inches. This is not practical.
Instead I find 54 inches 1/8 wavelength more
practical, but then apparently would need
to feed the antenna's slightly out of phase.
Other than playing around with feedline lengths etc. . Is there anybody that
can fill me in on how these are setup, so
the effective area is straight ahead and to the rear? Does someone sell an adjustable box to delay/change the feedline to antenna, to
get the correct pattern?
Thanks. .

If I remember right one wave length is aprox 12'. Any mutiple of this length as 6' for half or 3'for quarter. Your length should be factored in the coax furnished in the dual ant kit. Any extra coax can be stowed(in a random pattern not a coil) anywhere in route to your ant. After instalation do not forget to tune your ants for lowest SWR. You will be fine after this. I have better luck with a single 42'fiberglass whip with coax at 12'.

Just use one antena. Then use the other antena for looks not fumction. Ive heard that its better to run them this way. Other wise your antenas are to close.

iceman has the right idea. If you opt to go to an antenna with a coil on it, be sure that the coil is ABOVE the roof line.
It will work with it below the roof, but will hurt distance greatly.
