CCWs what type of gun do you carry

I carry a Para Ordnance P12 . 45 ACP in a Milt Sparks hip holster.

I can't imagine how uncomfortable it must be to carry a full size . 45 in an inside-the-pants holster.

Riflesmith, I have a Kytec inside pants holster and have py some glued on padding and it really isn't too bad.

I carry my Springfield 1911 in an inside the pants holster all the time. Its not that bad, you get used to it. . Kramer will put sheepskin padding on the holster if you request it, i dont mind it though, have been doing it for years.

An old Grendel . 380 is my cheap, beater, carry/car gun. Have others (many) but don't have to worry about marking this one up, plus it really shoots good too! I avoid schools (unsafe! can't carry a gun) and rarely venture out of state as no bordering states honor a PA CCW

I've been carrying a S+W Md. 686 +(7 shot, 2 1/2" bbl. , . 357 mag. ) for about 4 years now as an off-duty weapon. No complaints, although I prefer a Ruger Redhawk in the winter months when heavier clothing allows for easier carry.



Never been much for the lesser calibers (9mm, . 38 spec,etc). We used to be issued the excellent SigSauer P226, nice weapon, crap caliber IMHO. We now carry the Glock 22 . 40 Cal. , which I like as a duty weapon, but would go back to a heavy caliber wheel gun in a second if they allowed for duty carry, I just seem to shoot them better, no matter what the barrel legnth is. I only carry one weapon while off-duty, with two reloads for same. On -duty, I carry 2 Glocks, one is concealed in a less than noticeable but easily reachable location. Never had the need for the 2nd one yet, hope I never do, but it's good to know it's there.



I prefer the W-W 145 Gr. silvertip for the . 357 mags, though there are a ton of good ammo choices for that caliber, just my preference. We carry the re-badged 'Talon' rds. for the . 40 while on duty. I would prefer Cor-Bon, but the cost scares the crap out of the admin, so we settle for less. We are also issued the Glaser Safety slugs for destroying wounded wildlife in the more 'residential' neighborhoods, though I usually just choose the 12 Ga. with buckshot for that task.



If I am carrying the Redhawk, Federal's Hydroshock's rule IMHO.

You all make me feel like a weiney! I normally carry a North American Arms mini revolver in . 22 mag or a little . 380 Makarov, but if I can conceal it, a M1911 Kimber Classic Stainless in 45 acp comes along.



During hunting season, a Browning A-Bolt SS Stalker in . 338 win mag for long range work, and a Marlin 1895 in . 450 Marlin for the brush are in the gun rack.

Mr Brewski, just remember, a well placed low caliber round will be much better than a poor placed large caliber.



Large calibers are fine, but the increase in muzzle flip and flash are a hinderace to a quick follow up shot, especially in low light conditions. On the other hand, a it's hard to beat a well placed, large, permanent wound channel.



Aren't the . 450's fun. A good companion to the Marlin 1895 is the 1894S. Nice little . 44 mag/sp

Seeing as how I'm from Kalifornia ( the land where only politicians can carry guns ) I don't have a CCW.

Sure makes me feel better about my sense of security working late nights at the shop to have my Colt Combat Elite stoked with Hornady 230grn XTP+P close at hand. It's not uncommon to find it stuffed in my waistband out hiking or camping for that matter. I've been really happy to have had it a few times.

I wish these A--Holes in office would wake up and see the real statistics of reduced crime in an armed society.

well theoretically, both should go straight thru. however, that's in

a perfect world, which we know that if you're gettin' shot, sumpthin' ain't perfect. i personally would opt to get hit by the . 50 and take my chances with the shock wave. the 9 might just get inside and bounce around hitting everything it can find

and doin' damage.

I know it is a simple point, but remember that if you fire upon someone in self defense, and the round passes through that person, you are still responsible for everyone and everything else that round hits. And that collateral damage will most likely not be looked at as self defense, rather, negligence.

The . 450 marlin is a hoot! The first time I shot it I was quite surprised! (No hearing protection... ) That porting in the muzzle makes quite a bit of noise, and that light gun kicks very similiar to my . 338. I've got an Tasco Red dot sight on the Marlin - I wanted to try a red dot out to see if I like it, and I've allways been better with peep sights than iron, so I figured what the heck. I use it in the NW brush up to 150 yards - I figure it's good for about anything around here.



The little NAA mini mag revolver has quite a bit of muzzle flip, I'd guess the gun weighs about 6 oz's and when you touch off a . 22 win mag, it's quite a handful. I wouldnt try shooting at targets anymore than 20' away, the barrel is only a bit over an inch long and it has no rear sight, just a front blade. The . 380 is my best carry gun, I'm the most accurate with it with exception of the Kimber. I also have a Ruger P89 thats been relegated to plinking, I can hit the broad side of a barn with it.

Like everyone else, I always try to avoid problems of any sort, but sometimes problems come to us.

A 9mm Ruger and MagLite are next to my right thigh in the Ram at all times.

I carry a 5-shot North American . 22 in my boot rain or shine. Never had to use it except to deflate a 42-inch rattle snake in Stanislaus Nat'l Forest four years ago.

It may be small, but it changed the snake's attitude in short order. Joe

I've Got a Kel-Tec P11 I used to carry up in NY its real lite and small for a 9mm with 10 in the mag an one in the pipe. It will accept some S&W hi cap mags. I is really a shame that the trigger sucks so bad. I used to carry it kinda in my armpit area under dress shirts that had three buttons modified with velcro. No one ever spotted it even my police friends. Other times it lived in a IWB or ankle holster
