On the way home today I ejected a CD and now it won't let me insert a CD.

I can only listen to CBC (only radio station I get here) in short bursts and I don't have cassettes anymore so it looks like I will have to replace the factory unit with an aftermarket one.

Who makes DIN 1. 5 models to fit the factory hole?

Where can I buy one online in Canada?

Oh yah it's been a great week, the stock tailpipe rusted off 2 days, so I ordered a turbo back 4" from PDR today.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Mine had to be replaced within a week of owning the truck. It sucked in 5 cd's and would NOT give them back!! The dealer promised me that DC would remove the CD's and mail them to me... which I thought was a pipe dream. Much to my surprise, a week later they were in my mailbox...

However, they did have a sticker on each of them - that was impossible to remove - trying to say that CD LABELS were the cause of the problem. Nonsense - it was a defective player. Since then, I've used hundreds of burned cd's with labels in the new player with zero issue.

Pioneer makes 2 din 1. 5 stereos. The DEH-P77DH has the remote and RCA outputs if you are going to use an amp or subwoofer. $209 from etronics.com.

DEH-P47DH $185. Easy to install. Oo.

Even Better. I have used the DEHP pioneer and was ehhh about it.

Then I Installed the ALpiNe unit and have been in bliss ever scince. I know three people that have them just locally and all swear by it. Bad side is they are no longer available as of 2 years ago. Good news is that there are a ton of them left on internet stores and of course ebay. Another + is that the once scantily priced unit (500. 00 +) can be had for the 250 range. The thing never skips on me and it has a real clean output too.

I've repaired the same problem with my Infinity a few times.

Pull the unit out and remove the metal cover that covers the CD section. I usually do this on the bench so nothing get lost. Carefully push the CD carrier down into place until it latches. Sometimes it will go right away, sometimes it takes a few tries. Take the unit out to the truck and connect the two wire harnesses and turn the key to accessory and turn on the stereo. Hit the eject button if it doesn't try to eject it when turned on. Try inserting a CD, if it doesn't go, try pushing the CD carrier down again. The next step is to insert a CD and push the carrier down with the CD in place.

I'm not sure what the actual malfunction is but after messing around with this for a few minutes it will fix it. Sometimes it will last for a few months, sometimes for a few years. My truck came with the Infinity but no CD, I added a Radio/tape/CD unit out of a '99 Dakota in 2000. I know most don't like the stock unit but it has big buttons and the roads around here are rough.

Thanks Extreme 1.

I was resigned to the fact that I would probably have to replace it. I'll try your repair suggestion before I order a different one.

No one seems to be able to suggest a Cdn retailer and I really don't want to order one from down south(duty and shipping hassles, warranty etc!). The closest retailer that I can get a decent new one from is an 8 hour ferry ride away so I was hoping someone would be able to suggest a Cdn mailorder shop. I checked out the Cdn Pioneer catalog and they don't seem to offer the DEH47 or 77 in Canada?

I like the Alpine unit suggested by TTTMT but again I don't want deal with the hassle of getting one from down south.

I'm out to the truck to take apart the dash to see if I can fix it.
