2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission CD Stuck In Radio - Infinity

Well, that's about describes it. Yesterday, I put a CD in the Infinity radio in my 01 Ram and it did not play. I was too busy driving so a while after the disc came out, it got sucked back in. I forgot about it until today. Now the disc will not eject. Are there any ideas, short of a BFH to get it out? I very rarely use the CD player but I want it to work for that occasion.

I might try to just replace the head unit with the standard, non Infinty factory cassette unit out of my 96 if the plugs are the same.

Hope you get it out. I dont have any answer on how to get it out, but I lost 4 disks in a rental car once. They had to remove the 6 disk changer and send it to the factory to get my cd's out. It ended up taking about 3 months.

Not sure about truck cd's, but cd's in computers had a small hole about the size of a paperclip (straightened out) (1/16" or so) somewhere near the cd traveling cd holder.



Straighten out a paperclip, slide it into the hole, when you meet resistence push the paperclip in about 1/4" and it mechanically opens the cd tray about 1/4", but enough for you to manually pull the cd drawer out.



I do not know if truck cd's are like this, but computer cd's have been like this for a lot of lot of years.

Thanks for the quick responses. I have a feeling my experience will be like nutter's. BTDT w/ computer cd's. That hole is a handy feature. You would think the FSM would address this problem but I could not find it anywhere. I think I will give my buddy at the local 5 star a call and see what bad news he gives me. Right now I'm going to pull the radio out to see if the connectors match my other one.

If so then I'm going to pull it out. Should be able to get it done before race time... At least I will be able to use my Lyra w/ the cassette adapter.

Had a similar occurence in my wife's BMW three series a couple years ago but I think it was a cassette instead of CD. I took it to a local electronics repair shop that does a lot of automotive sound system work for dealers. They removed it without damage for a modest labor charge. It was cheaper than risking destroying the head unit attempting to remove the stuck cassette with a kitchen knife or screwdriver.
