Anything good in the North East and New England?

sticking exhaust brake

Hey all, looking at a 2008 Cedar Creek 362BSA 5th wheel. Was wondering if anybody has a newer model year Cedar Creek 5th wheel, and what their impressions, problems, praises, issues might be. Thanks for any input, Cheers. Oo.

I have a 05 Cedar Creek 34RLTS,love it been across the USA one ocean to the other and back. . I installed a 5kw gen, dual 6v batteries. . but would like to have Disc brakes over the drum I have now. . Other than that Its been a nice 5er. . Rich

Did you look at the Glendale line... ... made in Canada

I have a Cedar Creek dealer 4 1/2 miles away... ...

Drove 90 miles to buy my Glendale Golden Falcon... .

I have a '05 Cedar Creek 36RLTS as well. 2 AC's, King Bed option, 6. 5 kW Onan genset, 12 cu ft reefer, and some other stuff. Been across the US, and have full timed in in for 6 months in Colorado (-16°F and Georgia (over 100°F)

The only problems we have had with it were the ones that seem to affect most all RV's - we've had to replace the converter once, and the Amana Convection Oven/Microwave blows a fuse every 3-4 months or so.

I'm happy with ours.

Cedar Creek are rated from 1 to 3 stars on the RV Consumer Group. The worst part of a Cedar Creek is that they are made by Forest River, which is not a top end RV manufacture. However, if you are just going to use it for weekend vacations, it should be fine. I can't find model # 362BSA in my rating guide.

Not sure why the ratings are so low. I have a Forest River Cardinal which I am happy to have. Bought it new in Oct. of 03 and it's been to the shop twice since then. One for a slide that leaked a little and the other for an awning adj. and propane leak detector.

I to have had to change out the converter not because of failure but due to me preferring a different brand. Oh, I have been in this coach fultime since new, no weekend warrior stuff here.

Truthfully, the converter was my fault (got a little careless hooking up my 6 volt batts), but the dealer covered it AND gave me two new batteries as well.

The most important thing I have found with owning an RV (that is under some kind of warranty) is not how good the coach is, but how good the dealer is. Our dealer really took care of us with any and all service (warranty and non-warranty) stuff. A bad dealer can make owning a 5 star coach a miserable experience.

Juan,

My 5er came with a long silver looking converter, can't remember the name. It was not very good, fried the battery within a year. My last 5er had the one that you can attach the charge wizard to, Progressive Dynamics is the name I believe. I went back to a PD 60 amp and have had great results from it.

As far as the dealer, mine is terrific. They have allowed me back in the service bay each time and I was able to work with the tech in making the repairs. The tech actually wanted my opinion on the way he was going to make a repair and if I approved. I had a problem with the recliners and they pulled two from a new 5er on property and switched them out for me, my last dealer ( Fleetwood ) made me wait 8 weeks for two recliners.

We have a 2003 Cardinal because we thought it would be better built than the Cedar Creek. I have had to do so many repairs that I am just sick of at this point so we are staying the week in a condo instead of RVing.
One of the things that has not been repaired is that the side walls are delaminating at the rear. A factory rep of Forest River admitted to me that they had alot of problems with the side walls and had changed they way they doing it. They did not know how to do it right before whos to say the new process is any better after a couple of years.
Forest River will not receive any more of my business. #@$%!

If you are not full timing it, I would stay at Hotels or condos it's a lot less trouble.

I still love to RV because I get to pull something with the CTD. :D

I had an '05 Cedar Creek with a lot of minor problems and absolutely no customer service. I finally got tired of arguing with them and traded it. I will not own another Cedar Creek or any other Forest River.

Not knowing any details, I think the above probably supports my previousl comment. Buying a new RV is as much about shopping for a good dealer (check with the BBB, other owners, RV.net, etc. ) and then see what coaches they have that work for you. The same is true with most everything you buy - unless a product is perfect (and none are), you're going to have to dealer with your dealer some time or another. Even routing tune-ups/adjustments can become a nightmare...

Unfortunately you do not have a good dealer in the area, so who are you using. The dealer in Opelika (I believe that is the area) sucks. Both my brother-in-law and I have had problems from them and they are way overpriced.

Are you taking your trailer up to Hotlanta or down to Florida for service?

Justme:

I actually just moved to the Columbus area in September. I used to live in the southwest (mostly in Albuquerque, NM, but more recently in the Denver, CO area). I haven't needed any service since arriving (I do most of my own work now, but I appreciate the "head's up". I'll start looking around. There is an independent service guy (a mobile service company) that I have heard is pretty good, but he does stay pretty busy. There just doesn't seem to be near the RVer's her in the valley as compared to the southwest.
