Check out this site regarding a ceiling track hoist:

http://www.aidaptltd.co.uk/Hoists.htm Now since that is for a hospital - WAY to $$$$$ for me.....

I need to back my boat into my garage - and take off the 40hp Honda - and store it. I have a high garage - 15' inside and I thought that I could install a track system that would allow me to lift the motor out and roll her out-of-the-way ( I need to fish some places where a motor CAN't Be On The Boat!) So I'm trying to get a storage set-up that would be easy. Anybody have an idea how to do this inexpensively????? And I don't really have the extra storage for something like a rolling engine hoist.

They make inexpensive engine hoists that fold up when not in use.

Have you thought about a simple block and tackle from the rafters? Make a nice cradle to secure the motor, pull on the chain/rope and secure it to the wall, floor, etc.

I'm guessing you could find something at Harbor Freight or similar tool company for a very low cost.

Not bad

Three I- beams, two on each side of shop and the third with rollers attached to the two. The third will have a roller with a hook or loop for chain hoist. This will give you a full range of lifting area and infinite lift space up and down. :D Should not be too expensive.

Re: Not bad

Also check places like Tractor Supply. They carry the track for sliding barn doors. Those doors weigh more then your Honda Motor. I also notice Harbor Fright has a 12V wench on sale for something like $49. 00

the door track, the winch and a set of door rollers sounds like the ticket.

I checked out your forward to website before I read the rest of your post , thought you were thinking bedroom instead of garage . Sorry.
