2nd time now the CEL came on, and when reading the codes it tells me its the Crank Pos Sensor. Both time I was easying out of an area because roads were rough, or trying not sling rocks up onto the body, RPMs are about 1000-1200 and I feel it stumble, look down and see the CEL on. Get home pull the Smarty out to find out whats going on, and it tells me CPS. 213k, Smarty SR, I would have to look to see what settings I have, but they very low settings, TST and its set at 0/0. First time it was fairly dusty, second just didn't want sling to much mud. Could the CPS be going bad or is there an adjustment. I work with some MSD stuff and they have to be set at certain clearances.

Look at the sensor and the tone wheel--easy to see from beneath the truck. Your driving condition could cause a crank/cam position synchronization error also. I have seen that CEL with the TST box when on mountain trails where the engine could "buck" back and forth, causing the cam gear to float in the lash between gear teeth.

My TST throws a P0336 every now and then, doesn't hurt anything, just annoying. If you're tired of it, remove the TST.

As long as its not hruting anything Ill just lv it on. Jo Donnelly said look at the sensor & tone wheel, just what should I look for. Corroded, dirty, oily connections?

Since the TST harness connects in series with the sensor, you could check for a good clean connection, any mechanical damage to the sensor or tone wheel...

The P0336 code is just inherent with a TST, mine will sometimes throw the code if my trans shuttle shifts, or if I take off from a stop and rapidly let off the throttle. The CEL goes out all by itself after several key cycles, but the code remains set until I clear it with Smarty.
