Buy a Internet card. It fits into the PCI slot on the laptop. For unlimited internet expect to pay about 60. 00 a month, but well worth it!!! The actual Card that fits into the computer is a cell phone. You are issued an actual phone number for the card.

So if you have cell phone coverage, you can use the internet at broadband speeds in certain coverage areas.

I have seen that it actually goes in the PCMCIA slot. I was hoping to use it later of an evening sometimes when I have free nights and weekends and just have a onetime purchase of the cable and software, not a recurring $59. 99 plus about $49. 99 for the card. Thanks for the input though.

I was hoping to use the cell phone as a modem. Set the computer up to dial my normal ISP. I was thinking that it would be treated as a normal phone call. I can get on the web from my cell phone now and it does ring up data minutes. I was just hoping to use the cell phone as a modem and it would be transparent to the cell phone what was happening.

I think Jim is right, it's not the minutes but the amount of data that gets charged. Many years ago Verizon used to allow you to use a cell phone as a modem, and in fact I still have the cable and software, but I don't think they allow that now.
