Really Eric? It's a $5/month option here in Alberta. Both phones have separate phone #'s (820-1113 and 820-0213) and separate plans (1113 is the fixed mount and the phone I use regularly where 0213 is basically just used for receiving calls from lonely Ajaxes when I'm hanging out somewhere other than home or work so it's got a cheapo plan). If you call 0213 just the little phone rings. But if you call 1113 both ring-no need to forward the fixed mount to the little guy every time you get out of the truck. Telus will actually let you tie 2 slave phones to the master multi-ring #-but I couldn't really justify a 3rd! :p

1113 has all the bells and whistles including voice mail (which has another nifty Telus option-when someone leaves voice mail my pager gets a blank page sent to let me know someone has reached out and touched me), call forward, blah blah blah... . 0213 has just the bare minimum plan with the exception of call display. Very handy-I find myself sometimes reaching for the V60 when I get a call just to check out who it is! Any of you guys familiar with Motorola stuff know if the old bag phones have the capability for call display-and if not if they make a fixed-mount version that does?

cell phone service

I use a cell phone primarily for emergencies when traveling. Cheapest and best coverage deal I could find was with AT&T prepaid. You have to purchase a minimum of $10 worth of air time every 45 days. Unused time rolls over as long as you purchase more air time before the 45 day expiration.

The down side is that each minute costs 60 cents a minute. The upside is that you do not have to be on AT&T to make a call. It will hunt for an AT&T cell, but if unable to sense one, will automatically go into roam and connect through what ever service is available. You thus have full country coverage. I also purchased a refurbished Nokia phone from AT&T for $20. It works on both digital and analog systems.

You also have mailbox and message forwarding features. Additional time can be purchased through their toll free number with a credit card or at an authorized dealer.
