I've read so many great ideas and suggestions on here and I sure appreciate it, so thought I'd share something I came up with. One thing that's tough is figuring out where to put all our gizmos in the cab. I put some pictures in the photo gallery on how I mounted my cell phone in case anybody's interested. I wanted to be able to keep the external antenna hooked to it because my location sometimes gets some pretty weak signals. I also wanted to be able to use the hands-free feature. I got one of those magnetic holders (it says not to use a Motorola Startac with it) with the flexible shaft. It had an el-cheapo suction cup on the bottom that just didn't fit my idea of a heavy duty truck. I took the suction cup loose from the base and drilled a hole in the base and used a bolt to attach it to a 3/8" piece of aluminum. I attached it to the console river the the little hole in the console that I knew I'd only use to collect junk. I'll admit, I had to have a beer before I drilled 4 holes in my brand new console, but it did turn out really nice and solid. I'm sure there are better ideas out there, but it worked for me. I'm still giving thought to how to put my CB in without looking or being to cluttered.

Where?

Boonie, where are your pictures? Couldn't find any in the Reader's Rigs section looking under Boonieman, 2003 Ram, or by the state of Kentucky :(

I put the pictures under readers rigs... if you sort by date it was the newest one there. I think I named it 2003 cell phone mounting. I looked at it to make sure it got there because it was my first crack at it.

re mounts

i have two no drill mounts in my truck. the one i recommend is by panavise - www.panavise.com or try pro-fit. both kits are no drill and are designed specifically for the truck. I have the panavise and have mounted my nokia in car with cell antenna no problem.

if anyone needs pics, let me know, i'll take some and post em.

later.

Hey Plow,

Could we get another view? Like from the drivers seat.

What is that mounted on the other side of the center section of the dash?

Thanks

Here's my $3 clip, the adhesive wouldn't stick so I had to use two screws. Need to get some black screws...

Hmm won't attach so I put it in my Photo Gallery, linked in my sig...

Good Idea & Cheap too

Hi David,

Was searching for ideas on how to mount our cell. I have been sticking it in the ashtray, but I loose too many calls. sitting on the dash or center consol it flys when I turn or stop.....

I really like your idea of the inexpensive clip. :D :D Although I will likely find another location or use a metal extension like Pro-fit international or pan-vise so I don't have screw holes in the dash!!

Thanks for the post and photo's:D

Doc,

Firestick makes a metal hook that goes on your cigarette lighter knob. I paid $1. 29 . It is a pretty neat setup if you don't smoke:D .

Doc,

That is the baby. Works great. The mike just seems to ride there and not move around very much. I had a plastic hook that attaches to the back of the mike, but I picked up one of these for a friend and I liked it so much I got one for myself as well. The plastic ones are not as sturdy. Don't pay more than $1. 29 for it:D BTW the ss hood mount is what I used with a "mini whip" antenna.
