2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Center arm rest

Does anyone know how to remove the plastic box from inside the center arm rest without breaking it or tearing up the arm rest itself?

Welcome to TDR. You may want to include your Signature so we know what truck you are talking about, that way someone who has already removed that particular box can advice you. If not, you may need to get your hands on a shop manual to determine a step by step procedure.

This is why they shouldn't let old guys use computers. I thought that the truck profile would be included in the signature.

Looked in my shop manual and they only show removing the center section. Nothing on the plastic inside. On my screen your truck info was there on your original post.

Thanks TTBird. There is nothing in my manual either. I thought that maybe someone had removed theirs and could give me some info.

I had to remove mine to install a Katzkins leather kit and it not to bad to do.

To remove the plastic insert you need to gently pry the plastic starting from the long side of the box just enough to get a pry tool in and work to the front of the box. You will then lift strait up and it should come right out. It has plastic clips on the bottom and nothing on the sides. Thanks to all, especially Mcescolini. I'll give it a try. I want to install sterio jacks in the back of the armrest and possibly aux power for low draw use.
