Center backrest/compartment busted!!

Has anyone had the plastic tabs that hold the lid open on the center compartment/backrest break. All four of them were broken after 2000 miles. Took to stealer and so far they have replaced the bottom twice and the lid once. Now on the third bottom and the second lid and they ended up having to bend the pin this way and that just to get the lid to lock close. Finally it works! But on my way home I noticed a 1/8 tear in the seat cover by the pin where they were prying on it. They were very apologetic about having to come back so many times and I know it isn't their fault that the parts don't work from the factory. Apparently the two are match at the factory where as when purchased separately they are not.

I'm just tired of having to take the thing in so often, not including the fact that it takes 4 to 5 days each time they order the part(s). (Yes I have taken my truck home each time). I know I could take it back because of the tear but heck with it. I suffer with the small rip for now and get a new when the tabs break again(accidentally or intentionally)

Of course this is all under warrantee... had to vent my frustrations

I remember being really annoyed when mine broke and I got on the site to do a little venting only to find that this was REALLY common. People were wondering if DC was going to "fix" the parts, but to my knowledge nothing has nor will be done about it...

My story is IDENTICAL to yours! About the same number of times, and now I have cuts in the lid - like they sliced it when opening the box it came in. One tab broken again, so I'm just waiting awhile. Sick of taking it in!

Sorry, I bought my first RAM last year (used, 99). That lid actually has something to keep it open while driving? I have to hold the dang thing open if I drive anywhere.

If yours doesn't stay open, you're probably missing the tabs too. Check to see if they're broken off. They're little black plastic pieces (4 of them) in the crack if the lid hinge. The more that are broken, the less it will stay open on it's own.

News to me, Musta been broken all along



Oh well not worth the effort to take it to the stealer. I'll wait till more breaks and give em a day of work, already quite a few little items on the list



Good thing the truck runs like a bear cause the rest of it is crap!!
