My truck is making noise on takeoff. I think it might be the center carrier or possibly a u-joint. When I accelerate from a stop I get a slight knocking I can feel a bit of a bump-bump-bump in time with the noise. Once the truck is in motion there is no more noise or bump.

Does this sound like it could be the center carrier?

Thanks,

I've found on my trucks that when the u-joints start to go bad... you can feel it when you drive the truck but can't shake the drive shaft and feel or see movement... only after taking it apart could we see the problem... . we tow heavy loads and have never gotten more than 60-70K out of stock joints...

Hope this helps. .

At 66,xxx miles my carrier bearing is completely trashed. It is covered under your 7/70 powertrain though. Under load you'll get real bad shutter in the lower gears, and at high speeds you get a constant vibration, which in time will kill your pinion seal.....

The 2nd gen carrier bearings went out every few years for me and others i know but the one on my 06 looks different? hope its new and improved :)

(where is the grease fitting:(.
