I just ordered a center console seat/armrest base. For those of you who have had this replaced, what does the armrest base consist of? Is it the base of the flip-down part, or is it the whole center buddy seat, minus the lid and spring?

I am replacing it because of the lid hold-up tabs which are broken on mine. I read through other postings and I understand this is/was common, but newer re-inforced tabs are on newer replacement parts.

Thanks in advance! :D :D :D

I had two of them replaced under warrantee. The new one seems to be holding up, although the tabs in question don't look any stronger. Why DC didn't make a metal hinge (like on my wife's Durango), I'll never know. The dealer always replaced mine as a whole unit. However, the parts manual states that it can be ordered in pieces. The BASE, Armrest is shown as #5 below:

P. S. The sunglass holder will snap next. :D

dresslered,

Where did you get a parts manual? I want one.

Right now I only have the factory workshop manual, and know how handy these parts manuals, with their exploded views, are when taking things a part (or putting them back together).

thanks in advance.

Jon, what a you talking about? I drew that freehand. ;) Some where along the way, I acquired the CD (sorry as I don't remember the source). It is actually for a model year 2000 as the 2001's weren't out yet.

"P. S. The sunglass holder will snap next. " - Yup, read about that one too! :D

Thanks for the diagram. I ordered from dodgeparts.com and they had a similar, but not as clear, diagram. I ordered #5, but when I didn't see a separate part available for the bottom cushion, I wondered if it was part of the base.

The money is one thing, but scrapping an other-wise good seat/console just for the plastic tabs was making me sick. :(

Thanks for the replies!
