Has anyone installed a center support bearing from one of the auto parts stores and have it work? If so what is the part number? I've read a couple of posts and have come up with several different numbers. I am sure someone here has installed the correct one.

I put one on my truck from Carquest but don't have the part number in front of me. I had to take the bearing out and slip it into the Dodge bracket though.

Well no one around here has that part number, and looking at some of the online stores, it doesn't seem to match up. How did yours mount? Mine doesn't have the ears that stick out, I think it has the studs that go through a block welded to the frame. The stock part number is 4773014 and the Neapco # is N211848-1X. Anyone have a BCA or Federal #?

Hey, bringing this back up 'cuz I'm trying to figure out the correct center support bearing for mine. It has the 1.57" ID, and Rockauto has 3 different ones with a photo that don't look like mine, and one that does. Same as the OP above, mine does not have the ears. That matches the photo of the National HB88108D. So assuming I can rely on the photos, that's the one for me. Link to the Rockauto parts for the correct ID: http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...9,drivetrain,drive+shaft+center+support,12743

Am I safe with that one?

BTW I have the 1.18" U-joint cups. I assume they've been replaced in the past, as they're solid joints and have no play at all.

HI guys, how does that center bearing come apart. I purchased new u-joints and figured I wud do the carrier bearing too but couldn't get the front shaft to release. Is that pressed on in some way? Didn't want to apply to much force and break something. I put it back together with out replacing anything knowing I wud have to take it apart again anyway. Now I got $200 in parts collecting dust

If you take the boot off, the rear of the shaft slips off. BTW those clamps are hard to find. Plan ahead or decide if you want to use zip ties or hose clamps. You need a press to get the bearing off the rear of the front shaft section. It only takes a couple of minutes, but you may have to look hard for a shop who won't charge you an hour. For the price of an hour labor, you're close to being able to buy a press at Harbor Freight....

The bearing without ears, which I selected from the photos, was correct for my truck and made a big improvement in vibration, BTW...

I have a buddy that has a press but not sure how to make it work with the drive shaft connected to it. Taking it to a shop might not be a bad idea. They could do the u joint too. My rear seal on my transfer case is throwing some trans fluid so I don't know whether the carrier bearing is causing some wobble or if the shafts need rebalancing? Might be good to find a shop that does it all. Thanks for the info Charlie

I had mine pressed off and on at a local parts store. It would not be a bad idea to go to a driveline shop and have them put it on the balancer. Also do a good inspection the u-joints.
