Sent my slipping Centorforce back to the factory. This is what they did:

"Upon inspection and testing, no mechanical defect. Signs of extremme heat, possibly from misuse/abuse. Also pressure plate fingers extremely worn due to bad throwout bearing or bearing hanging up on collar. (it was a brand new $75 Dodge bearing)

NO WARRANTY
Went ahead and R&R'd the pressure plate, and supplied a new disc for PUBLIC RELATIONS purposes. Return to customer, no charge. "

Absue? They said it would hold 800 ft. pounds, I had 650 at BEST. False advertising if you ask me.
Oh well, I now have a spare, with their new upgraded disc, it will make a good stock replacement clutch for mildly BOMBed trucks,(or emergency clutch if my Sachs pukes) if someone wants to buy it.
At least they stood behind it.

MGM, Just a question for you I have a 98 24Valve, I have 83,000mi. on it and was wondering how many miles you had before you repleced the clutch? I have a bd box,275injectors,dd boost box and bd exhaust. I drive carefully with the clucth I avoid holing the clutch in when stopped and try not to slip it during start up. It seems very strong now. Any input would be welcome!
Dave

MGM,,Centercrap gave me the same line the first time I installed their JUNK,,Took it out and returned it and was told basically the same thing,,My truck at the time had a #10 plate in the middle and a HX35/16 nothing else,,IF it was supposed to hold to 800 ft lbs it never showed me that,,After reinstalling it(all before I joined here, should have researched some first),it did the same thing under load and was flaky to drive,,One time it would hook and blow off the tires next time it would power right through it slipping,,Had slave cylinder checked at dealers making sure it was not the problem and it was not,,Then it happened, one fine day at the dyno, tied her up and loaded the dyno and BOOM,no more Centercrap, transmission and bell housing,,Centercrap exploded, broke input shaft on transmission(and numerous other parts inside) and put a rather large hole in the bell housing,,I WOULD NEVER reccommend this FLY-BY-NIGHT,took my money and run, outfit to anyone,,Upon the reccommendation of My6 eats V8's I called his man at McCleod and I'm quite happy now,,It was a VERY expensive mistake and thats what led me to join here,,So if anyone wants a SLIGHTLY used Centercrap clutch and transmission, see me,I'll give the PIECES away,,CENTERFORCE=SCREW JOB... Nuff Said.....

Soooo, what are you trying to say Hammer?

I guess THAT post just lost me ANY chance of unloading a rebuilt Centerforce!!!!

I bought my truck used with 26,000 miles. The stock clutch was junk on the test drive. 180 hp engine. It quit disengaging at 36,000. I proceeded to shift WITHOUT a clutch, 350 miles home.
I installed the Centerforce and found out I had ruined my third synchro etc. etc. #ad

The Centerforce lasted about 4 months,5 sledpulls,300 hp. I limped it along for a year.
I don't care what hp you have, there are too many factors that determine clutch life.

ANY clutch will start dieing if you romp on the go pedal with 1000 pounds of torque repeatedly.

Centerforce is one more vendor that can be added to the list of jerks treating us like money trees, and rolling R&D machines instead of customers.
We should all send them a bill for Research and Development fees.

HMMM Everyone I know of has had good luck with centerforce clutches, including myself. Sometimes Sh*t happens. How do you know how much torque you had?? Maybe you had more than 800ft lbs?? ITs not hard to do with one of these motors. MGM they did replace it didn't they?? Did you follow the brake in procedure they said to use?? Its a little steep but hey they know what works with there product. Also compare the cost of one of those to a mcleod or sachs?? You get what you pay for
Clark

Mr. Fish,
Broke it in to Centerforce's specifications, and then some.

I WISH I had that much torque!!! I dynoed at 302 hp, so If I had 800ft pounds, I am the luckiest BOMBer out there.

I feel I did NOT get what I payed for, or a SACH's would not be in there right now!

A Centerforce will hold 800 ft pounds like I can pick my truck up and carry it to AZ and throw it through Midway Industries front window.
Call Blue Chip and ask how many came back to him.
Their R&D sucks.
Stock replacement at best.
They may work fine in the gassers, but someone should have told them that Diesels are different.
Gene
Oh yea, they replaced it. What am I going to do with it?
I'd LIKE my $600 back!!!

Well that rules out one of my options!
Thanks

MGM,
What clutch does Bluechip sell and how much?
I bought his 4 wire box and I have BD stg 1 injectors so I don't have anywhere near your power but I want something that will last under towing and pull hard on hills without slipping. Is Blue chip clutch around $600?

Gene,
You say your truck stock had the 180hp engine. Didn't the 5 speeds have the 215hp engine? Just wondering becuase I seen you mention this before and for a while I thought your truck was an auto.

Thanks,
-Ryan

Sorry to jump in here guys on an unrealted topic.

centerfunk is why I joined this site. They screwed me out of 600 bucks too. I was making 728ftlbs at the time and it lasted 9 days and 700 miles. NO MONEY< and JUNK back in the box. So I joined here to hopefully stop one person from buying their product. Your right they work great in gassers, not diesels. I just wish they would have given me the money back or like their "90" day warrenty says replacement part. That why I say don't spend and extra 600+ dallors on you mccleod, just do it right the first time.

Ryan,
My answer is missing!
Blue Chip sells several different clutches.
Kommiefornia trucks all had the low HP rating. Don't you just love that state?

Now THAT is causing trouble, you pinko Texan!
Gene

Gene a trouble maker,,I'd have to say not on this thread,,See I'm fairly certain if somebody would see the pile of JUNK in the corner of my garage that the Centercrap produced they'd think otherwise,,See I too was accused of improper installation and breakin by them,,NOT,,I've used their products in other applications, both in my street cars and race cars, over the years and nary a problem,,Here they are out of their league,,They are using us for R&D and it is quite obvious, and at our expense,,They(centercrap) need to stick to gassers and thats the bottom line,,Raises the hair on my neck when you pay GOOD money and then get treated like children by some pencil pushing, computer key punching, white collar yuppie puke who has NEVER even thought of applying the amount of hp and torque we can,,If it was a case of NOT TELLING them about the power, then thats different,I informed them from the start and they told me NO PROBLEM,,So here I sit with a FINE collection of used parts and a bad attitude for Centercrap and NO RESPONSE from them at all,,Once again I'll say it..... Centerforce=SCREW JOB!!... nuff said

Hammer I got mine through summit and they didn't have a part number so I had to call directly for that #. I told them exactly what I was doing and they told me they've had no problem holding 950!!!!!! ftlbs on the dyno so what I was doing should be no problem. Anyway that was 2 years ago now and now I have a BD auto #ad
