Duracoat takes 3-6 weeks, yes WEEKS, to fully cure... ...

Durabake is more similar to Cerakote. Duracoat is a more user friendly (easier) finish to apply.

Personally, I don't like either of them and choose to have my all weather guns coated with something else entirely.

What do you prefer? My 1911 has Ionbond. Seems ok except on the contact parts (Slide release, trigger, hammer).

This is the question im asking, They all I think will get wear marks that remove the coating even factory blue gets rubbed off. Just wondering about solvents, oils and greasy fingers, and GSR

Does that have any effect on the animals? Meaning this is something you should do right after the season so you have all year to let it air out a bit before going back into the woods?

Na, just a few weeks. Tops. I dont know if the animals can smell it.
I keep talking to my dog, but she's not answering me. :-laf

What do you prefer?

Robar NP3 and NP3 Plus. It has held up well.

I can't really speak to the long term abrasion resistance as I normally look for coatings to work in all weather environments moreso than wear resistance, but my NP3'd guns are looking good after years of use.

One other thing I've noticed about Duracoat and Cerakote, Cerakote more specifically. Many of the coatings end up in a final color not like what they were first expected to be. Many of them don't look good. Caveat.

It's not a DIY application, but, W. E. Birdsong & Associates have a coating that is very tough. Used on nuke subs and other high corrosion areas. I haven't used it, but, Ive seen it on rifles and it looks good.

Is that what they call Black T or something?
