Has anyone tried ceramic brake pads? I'm wondering if there worth the extra money or not. If anyone has tried them let me know what you think.

A friend of mine swears by them. Main advantage is no dust but they also last a long time and are quiet. Carbomet pads have worked great for me, no need to experiment.

Napa sells them for our rigs though you will have to special order. They were $80 for two pairs in '00, probably more now. Price is the factor though they are lifetime warranted, a set of Carbomets is half the price and work very well. I have heard no reports of rotor damage.

There have been comments about ceramic pads on Fritz's Rampage Brake message board, mostly positive http://pub6.ezboard.com/ffritzsrampagetechboardbrakes . Check out the threads about pads on the older pages.

Ceramix for 2500?

Are you sure NAPA sells ceramix that fit the 2500 trucks? I just called them and they said they don't have ceramic brake pads for a 2000 Ram 2500 4x4. He wanted to sell me their other heavy duty pads for $83. 88 (non-ceramic)

I tried NAPA three weeks ago. They had the severe duty but not the CerMet for a 2001. They also did not list any pads for the rear but I found out that the rear pads are the same a F**d Expedition front pads. NAPA has them in the CerMet material.

Ceramics are available for the 94-99 Rams now. I called & talked to the factory of one of the ceramic plants a couple days ago to get the straight scoop on the benefits of the ceramic pads. I was told that the main advantages of them was no dust & no noise. They are not designed for HD use and are no match for the carbon mets. ----Sam

Sam--I was hoping you would chime in-- that's great news--for you guys who don't know, Sam is a supplier of brakes --I highly recommend him and encourage you to call him---chris

Carbomets rock!!!

One call to Sam and my brake problems were solved,,Installed a set on my wifeys Durango and her dust problem was greatly reduced and the stopping power is much better,,When I installed them on my 2500 all I could say was WOW,,If your not carefull they will slam your knees into the dash, stop they do and it doesn't matter if their hot or cold,,One call to him and the brakes were here on the east coast at my step in 4 days,,One set directly from the factory(he did not have the Durango's in stock but got them to me promptly)and the other set from him,,More businesses should have customer service like his, call him all you have to loose is a few minutes,,Carbomets or ceramic(which will cause excessive rotor wear)the choice is easy... ... ... . Sam,again thanks... . Andy
