A Celebration of A Mans Dream

Buying jewelry online

Thinking my vision was failing(it has to a degree) I asked my father in law to bring us some 50-100-150 watt evil incandescents from Utah.
Wowee! I can read again without strain! The 1600 lumens from the incandescent 100 watters kill the identically rated CFL's.
When we go to a motel travelling,I can't see to read either.
I'm going to order more on Amazon.com before they're gone.
Hopefully, the emerging LED products can replicate the good old Thomas Edison. (correction)

I have a closet full of 100 watt contraband. I can't stand the CFL's either.

Mike.

Good man. I ordered some from www.1000lightbulbs.com but failed to notice that they emit only 950 lumens. The GE 3-ways we have emit 1600 at the 100 watt setting. We were amazed at the nice warm, bright light that the incandescents emit. Can't wait to settle in with a good book and the evil invention of Thomas Edison(correction)
Apparently GE has released a 1600 lumen LED that has a favorable consumer rating but the $50 retail price is unrealistic.

We run almost exclusively on LED bulbs! only have the incandescent bulbs where I read, Power consumption was our main concern but like to read by incandescent bulb or by the fire light. Have LED lights that have lasted sense we moved in 3 going on 4 years ago and while expensive if they last as long as some on another Website we belong to say they do, they will more than pay for themselves in their service life. Ours are the 12Volt type just as bright as the 110volt ones.

In the mid 80's, Pacific Northwest Bell (uswest/qwest) made the corporate decision to change all incandescent fixtures to cfl's. They soon discovered that saving energy... , increased operating expense.

The theme became, "What do we want to save, energy or dollars?" Now, add in the expense of disposal, cfl's are influxed with mercury... plus... their life span is less than proclaimed, multiple failures within days.

Just another stupid idea brought to us by the folks that specialize in stupid ideas that they force on the rest of us.

In January 2009 we stocked up to avoid the stupidity we knew was coming. We've got a shelf out in the barn filled with new ordinary American incandescent light bulbs. Should be enough to last us two more lifetimes. My daughter will inherit a lifetime supply.

Smart thinking. Actually the CFL's work pretty well for general use,but lack in the brightness dept for reading. The irony is that the lumen rating is identical. I replaced the existing CFL with a brand new one,let it warm up and it still sucks.

IIRC, Thomas Edison invented the filament type incandescent light bulb as we know it today. :D
