Boy, this thread really got hi-jacked :-laf

It started with me showing everyone my new install in hopes that if you are considering this mod, you could see it on the engine.

Now its become something different with a bunch of nay-sayers.

Anyone else want to rain on my parade??

I guess I could re-hijack this thread and discuss the poor casting quality and wrong parts in the AFE Bladerunner packaging or I could discuss how nice the ATS Arcflow is because performs as well as the CFM+ and its made of a robust aluminum casting.

Nah... I'll just wait for the person that actually had the CFM+ failure to speak up and give us the facts.

I think I'm done complaining now... :{

Yes Louis, good point.

Louis,

You are correct. No one has ever to my knowledge has ever posted a pic of a CFM that they have personally exploded.

The CFM+ intake was the best performer in that test and It is a shame that people have to propagand a smear campaign to try to wipe out the accomplishments of their hard work and engineering.

I put a CFM+ on my truck a week ago and love it! Not only did it increase spooling, bottom and mid range power but i diffinatly noticed a top end increase as well. My truck used to have a fairly linear top end pull. Now it has an increased power band from 2650 rpm all the way to redline.

Now the 60hp setting on my volumizer is almost as powerfull as it used to have on the 100 hp setting and the 100 hp setting is awesome. I spun the tires on a wet road in 6th at 60 mphw/ studded and sipped tires. I hope i didn't do too much damage to the road:rolleyes:

The CFM+ is a great product period.

I have no doubt that this product works the testing proves that. I fully understand that you can break anything. I also understand that the only people that really know what happened when the product pictured broke were the people there. So who knows? I dont. I am still curious what the CFM+ is made of. Composite is a very broad term. I had ordered a AFE unit but I think the order got messed up through 4wheel parts and havent been billed yet, and am possibly thinking of other options. So I am still curious as to what materials are used.

X2 more info from the maker and people who own one. i. e. how much boost do you make, Have you used in competition of any kind

(drags or sled pulling) how many have blown up? I am ready to buy it, but I would like a little info. But I AM sort of a nit picker.

FWIW, the CFMs are made of what appears to be the same type of thermoplastic composite that BMW and LSx series engine intakes are made from. Really robust stuff that routinely sees 40psi or more of boost for a much longer RPM band.
I am no engineer, though, so it might be something different, but we run a BMW shop too, so I have seen and handled enough of them to make a decent, unscientific comparison.
Until I see one explode, I will keep recommending them as well as the GDP unit (see my site for the test) as it worked almost as well and happens to be heavy metal.

Louis; Thank you for posting pictures of your installation. It looks great!

I have been considering the installation of this unit on my truck as it appears that the folks at CFM+ have done the necessary air-flow engineering which appears to be lacking by some of the other suppliers of aluminum manifolds. I am planning on pulling the trigger in late April, when I'll have some time to work on the truck.

On the issue of the failed CFM:

Has the person with the broken manifold contacted the manufacturer about their issue? Also, what was the boost pressure/manifold pressure when the piece broke and what else failed on the engine???? If the answer is "NO" then what are you waiting for? Of course if the failure was caused by a moment of self-inflicted stupidity, it is understandable that "he" has not contacted the manufacturer. It is always so much easier to field your complaint in a forum like this.
