After doing some research about the restrictive OEM intake, I went in search of a CFM+. Scored one on Ebay for 50 cents on the dollar from a guy that took all the stuff off his truck before it went back to the bank. Its on the way to my house... ... ... ... hopefully soon.

HOWEVER, surfing the net last night, I came across a guy in Florida building a very nice alternative called a Pusher Tube Intake. He is making these himself. Slick little set up... ... ... ... . for $119. 00.

Anyone have one of these??

You get what you pay for, CFM+ did a lot R+D to do this one a lot of flow testing with there's and others. You will like the CFM+. No haven't heard much about that one

In Florida you probably wont miss the grid heater.

The intake horn is a great upgrade. I put a GDP on mine (Dyno tests almost identical to the CFM, but cheaper), and it made a very noticeable improvement.

X2 on the GDP with grid delete--In a nutshell...

Extremely well crafted, superbly powder coated, metal instead of plastic, stock appearance in black or grey, no bending of dipstick tube required, with ports for gauges or injection, also provides a mounting point for GDP 2 mic fuel filter kit, extremely well priced, top notch customer service from people who know our trucks AND care about them...

What more could you ask for??? Oo. Oo.

Oh yeah, also no starting problems or codes on my 2005 with the delete (course never gets below 28*F here) , though I hear that some people do experience thrown a DTC regarding the grid heater...

Guys,

What I am looking for is temp reduction. With the intake and the grid delete, will I get 100* temp drop?

Its hard to tell you really have to pay close attention to your egt's at all times for a few days before you put the new intake on. I have the CFM and i saw 50-100 degree drop. I'm looking to switch to GDP for the filter mount i'll sell you my CFM if its not too late.

Richard @ GDP now sells a cylinder head mount for is MK2+ kit that will allow you to keep your CFM, if you want to... Otheriwse I can't say enough good stuff about the GDP kit, or Richard's customer service.

You should get 50*-100* with it. What are you running now, EGT and Boost wise?

If you go back to your stock air filter system and modify it to the PSM system, you will see a 50-100F EGT drop vs. your AFE.

Adding the CFM manifold will also net you a 50-100F EGT drop and you will notice a huge gain in torque at 1500-1900 rpm.

I never run the truck on anything higher than setting 2, which is the towing setting.

On a hard climb/long hill, I can temp out and have to back off. I rarely ever run over 50% throttle.

GOT ER DONE... ... .....

Got the install kit from CFM in todays mail and installed the intake this evening. Took my bride for a little ride... ... ..... never seen the truck idle on 250* before.

Cool! No pun intended.

Tomorrow we do a Dothan, Al. turnaround... ... ... ... . 'bout 600 miles delivering a Featherlite 3 horse bumper pull HT to one of my dealers. Not much of a workout. But Monday I pick up a 4 Horse bunkhouse... ... ... which should give me a better indication of what the EGTs are going to do.

Stand by for the "Rest of the story"... ... ... ... ... ... . Oo.

After 800 miles of towing 3 different horse trailers, it is running cooler and I am getting better fuel mileage.

Thought I had done what I could to let the engine breathe with air filter, torque tube, exhaust... ..... etc. But until you open up that intake, it's the bottle neck in the system. Should have done it long time ago... ... ... ... . if I had only known.
