hehe, has anyone thought of a "New Drug" the one that has some O2 with it, and is very popular with the Top Fuel Boys, burns cooler, and you can use a butt ton of it.

Would there be a problem with NitroMethane attacking any rubber parts in a fuel system? Would it mix with Diesel Fuel? what would be the best way to introduce it into the combustion chamber? Would there be any adverse effects to the injector pump with a 70/30 diesel/nitro mix?

I don't know if it will work, but there are some things to watch out for about nitro. One thing is that you can pour some on the floor and throw a match on it and it will not ignite, but hit that puddle with a hammer and it will explode. I don't know how well that would work in diesel engine. Also the exhaust from a nitro motor is very acidic. This might cause problems in your turbo and other exhaust parts.

Don't

Nitro is an oxygen bearing fuel, meaning upon combustion it creates its own oxygen, hence the tremendous power. Also this fuel does not burn, it detonates. Uncontrolled detonation destroys engines. Properly managed, it makes tremendous power.

I was a first hand witness to the destructive power of detonating Nitro Methane. It was 8 or 9 years ago at Heartland Park Topeka, Top Fuel qualifying. I was 20 feet from the dragster driven by Lori Johns when the crew attemped to start the engine for a qualifying run. A fuel system malfunction allowed excess nitro to leak into the engine, as soon as the starter motor spun the motor over- it exploded. The motor never fired, it just went BANG! There was a piece of the engine block next to my foot, caught in the chain link fence. It was the size of my fist. Now the NHRA requires the engines be wrapped in safety shields to contain the shrapnel.

I doubt the nitro could reach the pressures generated by the fuel injection pump without igniting or detonating, the pump could explode before the fuel makes it to the cylinders. I don't want to say it can't be done, but if it was done improperly the consequenses could be catastrophic.
