Craftsman mower manual?

Just be thankful?

I realize that its a bit easy to think that Extreme Trains was a bit short on technical content, with a slightly over zealous host, but we would do well to consider the likely target audience. If folks with no clue watch it, enjoy it, and learn from it, we will all benefit. As to not using the 3985, well, I have paced the 844 at 80 MPH, and in my mind it doesn't get any better than that!

Nice photos, Neal. Have you considered submitting a couple of the best to railpictures.net?

Ryan

Thanks, Ryan. I wouldn't know which ones to choose; I was just snapping pics of an old steam locomotive--the first one I've ever seen or heard. Besides, even today I'm still learning how to best use my K20D. :) But since railpics seems to have only two pics of X3985, I'd be willing to upload 10 or 15 of them.

Tell you what. Pick the 10-15 best and PM me the list. I'll list you as the 'Discerning Judge of Photographic Excellence'. I'll scale 'em, watermark 'em and upload 'em.

Well for 2009 looks like nothing scheduled for the Challenger so far. There are 4 trips for the 844 this year, it is currently on the return leg of a trip to Oakland California (it is in Ogden Utah today). There are 3 other trips for the 844 this year, short ones to Denver, Omaha then North Platte NE.

Another giant in the steam locomotive world will be taking its longest trip in many years this July. The Southern Pacific 4449 will be heading from home base in Portland OR to Michigan, spend a few months there then steam back in the fall: Train Festival 2009 - July 24-26, 2009 Owosso, Michigan

Wow those are some impressive machines!:--) I love the rail engines, but I feel so small, what with the engines I see/play with on a regular basis, 100HP is is big. The Baker below is 90hp, dont remember the russel. That particular Baker was/is a formidal machine for the tractor world, a traction engine made to pull a plow, something like 12 or 14 bottoms.

Good thread. How many "live" ones are there that originated over 5 years ago?:-laf:-laf

Sorry, not a railroad buff.

Took this picture about 23 years ago.

This was on the rails around my area.

Was called the Chessie Special.

Lousy picture, and I know nothing about the train.

I had the pleasure of riding behind 614 from Hoboken, NJ to Port Jervis, NY and return. Once back in Hoboken, I was invited up in the cab. Somewhere I have a picture of me in the engineer's seat. A look into the firebox as it was burning was very impressive!
