Last May I was having some maintenance done on my truck at Sears. I asked them what it would cost to flush the whole cooling system too since I just crossed the 100K mark. They basically gave me a flat rate for the flush which was a steal considering how much coolant my 05 uses. I asked several questions, but they assured me this stuff was totally universal and would be fine. I just called and they called it a "chameleon coolant". I'm not having a whole lot of luck finding out if this stuff is okay by searching on the web. I've not had any cooling issues, but just want to double check.

I know diesels are picky about having a coolant that doesn't encourage corrosion, so I'm checking into this again.

Anyone have thoughts on if this stuff is truly safe for our diesels?

I'm guessing this is the stuff:

Notice they tout it for heavy-duty diesels. Further research also seems to indicate that it is HOAT. I've searched and not found anything. Anyone know more about this stuff?

I can't imagine that Safety-Kleen is manufacturing coolant. . and they are know in the industry as one of the largest if not the largest recyclers of oil, solvent, and engine coolant... I can only assume that what they are offering is a recycled, distilled coolant with those chemicals that are missing from age or other issues have been replaced. .

What I can't understand is why Sears would be involved in this product when they are large enough to purchase direct and private label almost an coolant they want it... . I also understand that management at the store can and should share with you the vendor of the product...

I also believe that their savvy enough to only install into diesel pickups that coolant that meets the trucks engine standards. .

I know this is not an answer. . but my thoughts on the subject...

The stuff sounds like a "One Size Fits ALL" I go by the old saying "You get what you pay for". I went to Dodge and bought 4 gallons of the right coolant concentrate. $19. 95 a gallon. Not a bad price in my book.
