You get the same thread over and over.

There is some newbie with a 2500, 250, or even 1/2 ton who wants to put on a slide in camper. They ask, can I do it? And yep the GP and others all chime in with this and that.

Then you have my buddy who just went out and bought a 3500 dual chevy duramax... I know, I know, "why didn't I stop him". Well he did not call me and was looking at Peterbilts the last time I talked to him so I thought it was safe for him to look on his own... ;)

Anyway, he gets this thing rather than a 4500 cause "it has the same engine and trany as the 4500". And he is now surprised when he will be overloaded with a medium sized camper. He asks me "is everyone with a cab over overloaded" and I said "YES".

I have come to terms with my being overloaded. I think that is what it boils down to. Unfortunatly, when some are under there rating they think this is a licence to drive however they like. Some are over and do the same... It is not worth arguing over I think.

The fact that we are discussing it makes us light years ahead of the rest of the truck/camper population who believes what the dealers are telling them and really don't even know they are under/over or "what is GVWR?" people... ;)

Do the Exh brake, keep tires inflated, and check brakes often, and as the other thread said SLOW DOWN and I think you will be safe. Weather or not you can get up the hill with whatever engine and trany you have... That is another story.
