I have heard that once you start using 100% syn oil that you can not go back to regular oil. I've read some (not all) the threads re: using syn. At my infant stage, I'm not getting into the discussion of which is better - syn vs. dino

If I use 100% syn at the next oil change, then later decide to go back to regular dino, are there any issues with that? Has anyone done that?

thanks.

I switched back to reg. oil after synthetic because the engine was using the synthetic but did not use reg. oil. It was Rot. -T for both oils. No ill effects in switching. The usage stopped.

This is definitely a "wife's tale". Switching between Synthetic and reg. oil is certainly not going to hurt your engine any more than switching different brand of oil. I have seen some engines that will consume oil after changing brands as well as synthetic to regular oils, and regular oils to synthetics.

Personaly, I don't like to switch back and forth in either case.

It's definetly not going to hurt anything. I went from AMSOIL back to dino because synthetic got way too expensive. My oil samples burn just the same as they did with synthetic.

next oil change i will be dumping my 0w40 syn for some rotella cj 15w40... then back to the 0w for winter... fuel costs going up, cost of living going up, need to save pennies where i can...
