2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Change one or both calipers?

I have managed to break a bleeder screw off in my caliper and break an allen wrench off in there. I don't think it is coming out or getting retapped .

Figure it is time to change the caliper. The question is, one or both?

How eveenly matched are they, pressure wise and everything?

Unless you buy one from the dealer it will probably be different. It no doubt costs more for one dealer caliper than a pair elsewhere.

Oh yeah. This was the second set the dealer put on there to get it to stop straight. I'm tryinging to remember if there was more than one kind at the time , either.

I did mine about two weeks ago, both calipers and hoses, about $180-$200. Napa supplied all and the calipers were "loaded" with pads. My '99 has RWAL brakes. Hope this helps your decision.

First of all, IMO, a person should NEVER try to save money on brakes. If it doesn't get you now, somewhere down the road it will and it may not be just you who gets hurt.

With that being said, you should ALWAYS replace parts exactly the same on both sides. Both calipers should be replaced at the same time. Also, as I have learned, you should buy unloaded calipers so you can put the highest grade pads you can get. The ones in loaded calipers are usually not the highest quality. If your truck has more than 50-75,000 mi on it, I would also recommend to replace the brake lines and flush the complete system w/ new fluid.
