I read a post from some time ago about changing the rear rotors on the 03 and up. It said you have to pull the axle???????

WTF??? Ok... So i pull the axle and have to remove the hub nut. What size is the hub nut socket and where do I buy one at?

I recall buying one for my 97 1 ton, but cant find it anywhere..... It was from Napa.

Is the axle seal a dealer part or? Any trick to it coming off, or typical seal removal?

Thanks for you help in advance. . Ed

Similiar to what the old Dana 44's used on the front but of course a different size.

Brake rotor change

I recently changed both my rear rotors on my 04 3500 DRW. The axle is held in place w/ 6 or 8 bolts in a flange, the axle slips right out. It's not a big deal.

I didn't need the tool posted above. The biggest problem I encountered was seperating the hub bearing housing from the old rotor. The bolts are held in place w/ Lock Tight or something like that. I used a torch to heat the housing and the bolts released, not too hot, just enough to make the metal expand. Good luck w/ it.

Axle nut inside housing holding hub on?

Is there a nut holding the hub on that the rotor is attached too?

If i remember correctly, on you remove the axle, then the inside large nut, after peeling the lock ring clips open so the nut would come off...

Is that the way these are done???
