Hello,
I have on 03 2500 that I bought in October of 02 with 62000 miles I still had the original batteries and I was warned by my mechanic that even though they were still working fine I should replace my batteries as they were too old and on one of his other customers the passenger side battery leaked causing lots of damage. He knew I would replace them myself so he was not looking for a sale.
Today I replaced both of the batteries. When I went back in the truck my Prodigy brake controller displayed "NC" . I unplugged /replugged it and now i think it is ok. I then ran the truck when I tried the AC, nothing. I can't say for sure it was working before the battery swap. It did work last summer. It checked the fuses and relay and they all look good. The AC Clutch is not engaging.
My question, could I have done some damage with the battery swap and if so what, or is this just another thing going wrong with my truck?
I thank all who reply,
Pete

Is the fan working - just not the a/c? Does the light on the a/c light up? They would sound unrelated (changing batteries and a/c not working)... ...

You've likely got a leak. Batteries and A/C not working, is not related. Check the charge, bet you're low and the low cut off won't let the system run - especially after sitting all winter! I have an '00 and I filled it with a fix-a-leak I got from NAPA. Worked like a charm. Lasts almost 2 years before I have to do it all over again, but it takes 20 bucks and about an hour, versus $2000. 00 for a new system?!

Hello, just a quick update. The next day I went out to the truck and the AC was working again, why I don't know but was happy to see it working. Today nothing, once again the AC is not working. I checked the fuse the relay and the connector by the compressor and nothing. The AC dash light comes on but the compressor clutch does not engage. Truck will be going to my mechanic on tuesday lets hope its not to expensive.
