Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Changed NV5600 lube today

2nd time I changed it. 1st time at 10,000 miles and it shifted easier. At 30,000 it was just starting to get a little hard to go into reverse and 1st when cold. As soon as I changed it I noticed it was easier to shift when cold.



I don't think there is such a thing as "lube for life". If you're having trouble with difficult shifting in your NV5600. try changing the lube before spending lots of $ on other solutions.



P. S. The oil that came out looked like new, so don't go on how it looks to determine oil condition imo...

My truck is in for several warranty items, including hard shifting. They are changing the lube to see if it helps with the problem. It will be interesting to see if it does anything!

I bought a 5 gallon bucket of the Texaco 1874 MTX lube back in 2000 when it was still available...



Don't know what i'll use when it's gone. Two changes and the bucket feels about 2/3 full now.

From what I have read this stuff meets the DC spec, supposed to be the same as Texaco 1874.
