BD transmission ,TC and MAg-Hytec reg pan. Drained TC and pan, 12qts ATF+4, looks full and the first moderate left and right corners (only ones on my way home before parking it) both produced a jump in rpm as it seemed to suck air. Questions are, 1. do different torque converters have different capacitys. 2, last time I used a regular 727 filter with the open media on the bottom, this time I used a 2000 dodge ram filter with the covered bottom w/ port. 3, BD said to be low rather than high so what is it taking you guys to fill? 4, Finding atf+4 as we know is random at best except the dealer. Last time I used +3, today BD told me only +4 or +3 with friction modifier. Any ideas why? 5, where did I set my beer?

Last time I changed mine, including TC it took 29 pints. I let it drain over night. I had to keep checking the back of the stick as the front kept rubbing thru the oil in the dipstik sleeve showing a false indication.

I have a mag-hytec double deep pan and a bd tc & vb. I drained the tc and the pan and it took 18 qts to fill mine to the full mark. Melvin

I cant tell by your sig. but a stock trans will not pump in park. you are checking the fluid in neutral arent you? just a thought.

yes I was, what got me was my book said 12qts and I assumed that was the larger 99' and up pan which is supposed to be the same capacity as my mag-hytec. Last night I looked at mag-hytec site and they said a 1. 5qt addition with there pan. Problem solved. Still curious about the other questions I had though.

im pretty sure that all torque converters hold the same. there may be a difference with the multi disk converters. I am not sure. I have a single disk. I run dexron III in mine. the friction modifiers only make shifts smoother and softer. at least that is my understanding anyway.

DTT drain

I just serviced my DTT/Single Deep Mag-Hytec and it took 15qts. of ATF+3. DTT doesn't recommend the synthetic so I get off with $2. 68 qt. I purchased open filter elements from Mag-Hytec for $3. 00 and gaskets for $2. 00. Works perfectly. They ship them to your door for peanuts.
