Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Changeing Lift Pump

As we are going on a long trip this winter and my truck has around 75000 mi on the orignal lp, I am going to get a new one befor we make the trip.

I have a guage on the lp now and it seems to be OK but after reading about all the failures, want to have a new one with me.

My question that I hope you will help me with is----

What size wrenches will I need?

Do you change the lp from the bottom or top?

Screw drivers?

I know some of you have changed the lp more than once and some of you must be quite good at it. One fellow stated that he could change it in 15min???

My truck is a 99, mostly stock execpt guages,2wd,lb,xc.

Check this thread out. Will give you all the information that you need. It is a real easy job to do. Some models require a wiring harness extension for the pumps. My '99 does.
