Does anyone know what changes '07 will bring?

Is the new 6. 7L diesel going to be an inline-6 or a V-8? Will the 5. 9 still be an option?

Unless incentives really improve, I think an '06 might be out of my reach--just hoping an '07 will bring an inline diesel instead of a V. That 5. 9 was the only reason I even considered a Dodge.

Where did you get your 6. 7L info from? Been looking online and all I have seen are rumors... . Hook me up so I can do a little more research.

Thanks,

David

still a rumor

I can tell you that nothing is set in stone as far as the rumor, It is likely a 6. 7 but then agian some of the diesel techs have been told a 6. 9 so like some of the other mebers have stated until I see the preliminary release info on Dealerconnect I am not holding my breathe too long... .

I don't know anything more than most others here probably know--rumor. I'm also trying to get past the rumors.

I think it would be instructive to see what Cummins has in its current diesel engine lineup when considering what may be available in our trucks next year. The 6. 0 that is in the Ford trucks now was used in International's trucks before it was ever seen in a Ford.

The bottom line for me is that I'd love to see an inline 6 continued for 2007.

Wouldn't it be cool to see the 5. 9 continue in '07, meeting all the emissions criteria without any changes in torque curves and power curves (and maybe even making more power?) I don't know if that is possible... but certainly don't want to lose the inline 6. That design in itself has been a strong draw to the Dodge trucks for me--I believe that inline 6 engines are better all-around that V diesels... .

I fear EGR is coming 1-1-07. May not. We'll see. Doubt they'll change from the 5. 9. I am not thrilled with the idea of a 6 speed auto either. Too complicated and new (read unproven). I'd rather have a 48re with the full DTT treatment. I hope I'm able to get a '06 in about 11 months or so.

I think some people are thinking/wishing/hoping for the new 6. 7L QSB inline six from Cummins:

http://www.cummins.com/cmi/content....uId=4&overviewId=15&menuIndex=none&dataId=620

I didn't see anything about a version for Dodge, but it looks to be the new MDT engine compliant with '07 emissions regs.

Interestingly no EGR:

"We've enhanced the QSB with some evolutionary durability and reliability updates which move the engines significantly ahead of the competition. Cummins in-cylinder emissions solution has enabled increased performance while meeting regulations without the use of complex turbocharger arrangements or external hardware such as exhaust gas recirculation,"

We'll just have to wait and see. I'd love to see higher tow ratings and a SLIGHTY bigger quad cab - no Mega for me - it's just too darn big.

Let's see if that one gets by unnoticed...
