2011 4500 C&C truck. Needing to replace transmission. Once I get née one in, is there reprogramming needed? I was told if solenoids were changed the computer had to be reprogrammed to accept them. So I would guess the same is needed with a full swap also? Thanks in advance

Thought the relearn was only on the 68 transmissions? I've had my Aisin tcm updated twice and both TSB's only said the 68 needed the relearn performed.

When I had the AS68RC replaced in the 08 I had, it was required to do a relearn. Possible that the AS69RC changed so it doesn't need it.

Yes, mine is the 68rc. I assumed it would have to do a relearn but wanted to make sure. I planned to do the swap myself. I’m gonna guess it wouldn’t “recognize” the new transmission to be able to take it to a shop to have the relearn done? Sorry, I’m used to the older trucks without all this electronic stuff

Oh ok, but yes the Aisin has relearn also. But for some reason mine wont start the process. Tried 2 different types of scanners. Does anyone happen to know if the 4x4 and 4x2 versions are the same, besides the tail housing? Meaning if I bought a 4x2 model could i just swap my rear housing and transfer case on?

With Aisins I've heard they can be relearned and not. Also that they are adaptive and not. Never any proof on any of it either way. I do know for sure the Chrysler 68 needs the relearn performed.

210k miles. I got it with about 190k so not sure how it was treated before. Having a lot of shift flares, and hard up and down shifts in 3rd and 4th. Changed fluid and filter a few times, and cleaned solenoids helped some. When it started, it went to limp mode almost immediately when trying to drive it. I found a low miles 2wd trans, but not sure what all is required to swap it to 4wd. LOOKS like just swapping the tail housing, but I can’t find info on this thing anywhere. I swore I read somewhere that swapping the tail housing was all that’s needed, but I can’t seem to find it again.

Did you get the engine and trans software checked for the latest versions? They issued many revisions for the Aisins over the years. My 2018 has had two Aisin updates.

I have not. Havnt had a chance to be able to get it in to the dealer for them to check. Is there any way to find out what updates have been done?

Not really. Only the ones they did while under warranty will be linked to the vin and be in the data base. If the original owner took it to the same dealer all the time, they would have records of what they did.

They use to put flash stickers under the hood, but I haven't seen them do that for some time.
