Hey y'all. . I need to change my clogged heater core, and need to know what all is involved as far as dashboard removal, what to expect, how long it will take, and anything else I should know. . Any and all comments would be appreciated!

Quite a few issues back,a TDR outlined the procedure and it was very labor intensive, say 8-9 hours as I recall. Have you tried reverse flushing it?

I should have stated that it flows water fine, but it's the airflow that has been blocked by dust and nasty particles. . I bought some A/C coil cleaner from Home Depot, but to no avail. . It's bad. . I am just going to replace the upper dash, heater core, look at the A/C core while I am at it, and go from there. . Right now, I want to keep it simple with just 2 projects in one big massive job. . I know its labor intensive, but last winter was miserable... when it was around 40 or below, the air in the truck was not even blowing warm... It SUCKED! I want to get to it before we get our first cold snap, and while I have some spare time, ya know??

I changed the heater core in my 94. I used my factory Dodge service manual and went step by step. I do a lot of mechanical work and it took me 8 hours. If I did one again, I could do it a lot faster. I was not impressed with the aftermarket heater cores and ended up installing one from the dealership.

Kinda cornfused... You say the airflow is lousy for the heater - is the same true for the A/C? I ask because for my heater box ALL airflow is through the evaporator coils (where the dirt should land) and THEN the 'blend door' directs SOME air through the heater core later. I would think if the heater core is truely choked the evaporator should be bad too. Either way the replacement is no harder than spine surgery on an awake patient!! ;) . All this the result of Dodge not putting air intake screens up at the hood (take notes Dr. Z). Seriously, plan at least a day in a covered area to complete the job.

I'd need to pull my apart and clean/replace it. Both the A/C and heat don't work all that great. But it doesn't get too cold here in Idaho, I think we saw a low of 8* hahahaha.
