I need to change the fuel filter on my 07. 5 with the 6. 7L. whats the easiest way to do it. its packed in there pretty good.

what has been done alot is reach through the wheel well and disconnect the WIF light wire then take a big pair of Plier's and loosen the filter houseing there is also a 3/8 entention on the bottom of there that you could use a 3/8 drive ratchet to loosen it best bet is to drain some out first and once it's loose put a plastic bag around the filter so you don't take a Bath in fuel

Have you done the upgraded filter retrofit?

Usually if you use the drain to empty the bowl into a jar you won't spill anything.

Its messy either way. I use the socket on the bottom and I have the upgraded design. That reminds me I need to change mine darn it.

It's a PITA for sure. I don't mess with the wheel well though.

Tips: 1) there is receptacle in bottom of filter 1/2" or 3/8" use to loosen but NOT tighten the canister, need extensions & a wobble too 2) I went to lowes & got a plumbing fitting & extra tubing to extend the drain hose 3) disconnect the WIF sensor 4) open the WIF drain - not much comes out 5) Then loosen the canister slowly - a lot of fuel comes out 6) crawl into the engine compartment from the top & remove the canister 7) install new one.

I do them on a lift at work from underneath. My own truck though, it's on the frame rail back by the fuel tank. The factory unit has been bypassed.
