So I helped a retired friend change the shocks on his 3rd gen truck.... with 175K..... we broke one socket, and twisted a 1/2" extension a 1/4 turn... and than the light went off....
I've been in the trade all my life and I'm now retired as well.... sometimes I just don't think and would have had one of the guys who worked for me do this job..... and I'm sure he would have know the secret... but the mounts were all bolts coated with loctite....
so we got out the trusty propane torch... heated each fastener and they easily came off.... so I thought I'd share my grief and maybe help someone out, who's forgot the basics....
Have a great day....
