I wanted to know if I could have my steering wheel changed to the type that has radio controls. Is it a big job for the dealer ? Do I need a different radio? If so, can I switch to one that is both a cassette and disc player? Thanks.

I imagine this would be extremely expensive due to the presence of an air bag.

It may not be that bad because all he would need is the steering wheel itself. The airbag should be able to be moved to the new wheel.

I thought there was a post from someone a while back that added the switches to their steering wheel.

It seem to recall they said it was real easy... just added the switches. The wiring was already there?

Of course, it could just be old age catching up with me!

Well it would be worth it to me. I was driving my buddys ford for a weekend and got used to the steering wheel controls ... now I miss them in my dodge.

So I'd like to know as well if it can be done. Maybe a junkyard has a steering wheel?

IMHO. . not worth it... I have them and forget about them 99% of the time

i use them 99% of the time myself... the only time i touch the radio is to press in the volume button to shut off the radio, or if i am parked in a way that the steering wheel isn't upright

I think you need the Infinity system to have those buttons. I ordered radio RAZ and the steering wheel buttons... Not cheap.

I have the Infinity system W/O steering wheel controls. Asked dealer about adding switches... You need a new wheel-$200, wiring harness to get to radio $100 and a few misc parts. Get this, the airbag stays put. The wheel itself is $200. I said, "forget it".
