What is the best way to change all of the fluid in the 518? I haven't looked but does our TC have a drain plug on it?

TIA

No drain plug. I removed the cooler lines to get it all out. I have to refill with 12 quarts. I believe the owner manual states it holds 12 quarts. If I simply change out the filter, it'll hold 5. 8 quarts.

If you loosen the bolts holding the valve body on after removing the filter quite a bit more fluid will drain out, I think it siphon's some out of the torque converter or the coolers, I get about 10 quarts(might be 12, can't exactly remember) out that way. Let it sit for a while it drips for a long time.

Thanks I'll be doing ths along with everything else that needs to be done before the snow flys this weekend.

Autotrans bolt torque..

The D/C manual reads the auto trans bolts be torqued at 150 inch pounds, when I did mine I torqued in an across tighten pattern: hand tight, 90in/lbs, then 120in/lbs, finally 150in/lbs. No leaks. The experienced people from this forum recommended NO re-torquing needed! Worked for me. Good luck on the fluid change, be patient, work clean, and all goes well :D Patrick.
