I gotta' second Steve's Nike advice. The other theme you could consider is "build it and they will come", which is closer to the approach I've taken. I certainly don't have the sophistication nor organizational background - much less knowledge to build a web site - as the Great Lakes guys do, but I have to simply admit to being jazzed about the Diesel Ram, and thought it would be great to get together with a bunch of guys with similar interest. I just picked a date on the calendar as a suggestion and started getting replies from about a half dozen states! I've never suggested "formalizing" our group (officers, club name, etc. ), I just thought we'd have a good time meeting and talking. I got with the owner of a local diner to see if we could meet there. He not only said yes, but said he’d set aside a separate area for us to meet. I called the dealer I bought my Ram from, and he’s got a goody box just about ready for me to come pick up – he even offered to bring it to me at home or work! (I told him I would pick it up myself - another wonderful reason to spend time in that Ram!) The manager of Southern Plains Cummins was noncommittal when I talked with him yesterday – but he didn’t say no, either. Formally organizing can come naturally if enough of us decide at the January 29th meeting that's something we want to do. In the mean time, we'll just have a little fun.
You don't have to be a great techy to do this either. My guess is that there were probably fewer than a handful of guys on this board who knew LESS than I did about mechanics in general and Diesels in particular. My whole mechanical background was limited to oil, filter and spark plug changes (I'm brand new to Diesels) prior to losing my mind one day and deciding to buy the Beast. Being in the TDR has given me an education I never anticipated, and what an education it's been! It's furthering this fascinating education that I'd like to come out of meeting with other Rammers. And if I can make this happen, anyone can! Go for it! Just Do It! Build It and They WIll Come!
