Come to think of it, I think I do remember the needle in my '99 moving up/down with the heaters in cycle.
Hmmmmm, maybe it's time to replace all the guages :-laf
It does however give me personally some sort of time line.
I won't shut down until 300* and I wont head out til 14 volts ..... but that's me.
