i need a good charger for 2 six volt batteries ( used as 12 volts) in my trailer. my deep cycle charger does't seem to fully charge them, and my automotive charger boils them till they smell. also can you charge them with a charger while the generator is running that is also charging them? thanks ken

Does your auto charger have a slower rate? I use a charger on my 2 6-volts at the 12 amp setting til it shuts off then run it on the 2 amp setting. . I have the Interstate Batteries and they do good.

Inbetween time, the solar charger keeps them up. I have 200 watts and that makes about 7 amps til it gets to 14. 4 volt then it shuts off.

You could have a battery problem... . have them checked... . your shore power connection is set to a certain voltage... . this is usually the same as the charging system on a vehicle... . A battery charger has the ability to raise the voltage and this higher voltage can cause the battery to boil... .

If a battery has excessive internal resistance, the vehicle or shore power will not charge the battery, but the battery charger will charge it..... which is what your sharing... . A cell test will tell the story... .

Hope this helps.....
