I have to admit i am not the easiest person on a clutch and combine that with the fact that my wife is a little worse than I am I now have a Problem i'm sure you guys can help me out with.

I have a clutch from south bend installed and it has always done a good job for me towing a 33ft 5th wheel trailer.

My truck is a 95 2500 ext cab with the 5 spd. For the past several months I have noticed that when backing up with or with out the trailer the truck bucks like a wild horse... this is worse when trying to back slowly with the trailer attached. I mean the truck really bucks.

If i get off the clutch pedal completely it is okay but then I'm going back faster than I want or need to.

I'm sure i or we screwed up something and perhaps you guys can tell me what ius wrong and what I need to do to correct the problem ( besides being easier on the clutch) The clutch does not slip even going up the steepest mountain, and takes off in 1st with just a tiny jerk NO not Me ... ... ... ... ... .....

Thanks for any and all answers

Help me out guys/girls

Come on people 41 look see's and no help????? I'm not a sensitive guy, if I'm doing something wrong here feel free to tell me... . I don't want to take it to a shop without having some idea of what might be wrong with it or me.

I would like to tow again soon but do not feel comfortable doing so.

I did hear from a friend thyat there may be oil leaking onto the fylwheel from either the engine or the transmission is that a possibility will that make it grab and release like it is doing?

Thanks and Happy holidays to all.

Hello Peter

I am not at home which is in Luray VA now (we just moved this month) The truck is there and I am in Mass. I have the paperwork on it in the truck.

Last year I came to your shop to buy the clutch, if I remember it was about $1,100 and that included a new flywheel to match up to it,nd you arranged to have it put in for me at a locakl shop.

The guy took all day to install it then I had to spend another day there to have the rear transmission seal changed.

I know you sell a lot of clutches but thought you might remember ... . ... remember I am towing a 33ft 5th wheel trailer.

If you do not remember I will get back to you after Christmas wheni get back home.

in any case have a great holiday... .

Thanks for getting back to me.

Mine does it too. It is the normal aggressive nature of the material on the clutch, so do not feel alarmed. . It is not broken, or anything bad, so you need not worry. . I thought I messed mine up as well, but nope, it is just the normal characteristics of a powerful clutch. Merry Christmas, and I hope this answers your question!

SOunds normal for a ceramic or Ofe clutch, you might try a dual disc organic from Mcleod. they are much smoother if you don't want to sled pull.

Grabbing clutch

So Peter... . what do you think? is this the nature of the clutch? Do i have to live with it grabbing like this? pretty embarrassing trying to back the trailer up just a little and having the truck buck like that.

What can i do about it if anything?

If it is the clutch I'm sure one way or the other Peter will do right by you, even if it isn't his fault. But one more option to concider, if your truck is a 4x4 buy one of those 2 wheel low kits and shift that transfer case into low to help back the trailer. That will help relieve stress on lots of parts. Not to mention I think I bought my kit from Piers' for around $70 and you can install it in way less time then pulling a transmission. Good luck Jeff

Jeff..... Thank you for your advice... . I have a 2 wd and as you mentioned... I know peter will be able to help me out. I have never heard anyone complain about his service to customers or his products.

looking back on my first time towing after I had this clutch put in I only towed to one other place and then parked the trailer for quite some time It bucked as I backed it into the driveway but I thought it was me, but the grabbing and letting go of the clutch was something I thought I was doing and not the clutch and it was only really noticeable as I backed up without the trailer but really bad when hooked up to the trailer.

Like I said I don't even like to drive the truck anymore :>(

HAPPY NEW YEARS TO ALL
