2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Cheap Dodge CTD question

I have an opportunity to buy a 1994 auto truck with 190K for $3000. As near as I can tell and from the injection shops I have talked to, it needs a new pump and probably injectors. Apparently some water went through the pump. I'm sure I can pick up some stock injectors for a good price (or buy 370s for my own truck and put my stockers in), and I think I can get a used injection pump for no more than $500. I would be buying the truck to fix and sell.



My question to all of you is, what in the heck would this truck be worth in good running condition? It's a salvage title truck, and it has been wheeled quite a bit from what I can tell. The driver's door and much of the bed is bondo and spraypainted, and the truck is in fairly rough shape, but that said, it's fairly straight. The transmission is in good shape.

Dunno where you are, but here in Texas a "salvage title" vehicle is just about worthless. When you're done with it, it'll be worth if you part it out.

You need to fill out a tad bit more on your profile, location, etc...



Here in Arizona, just like Texas, the word SALVAGE on a title will reduce the value to half or worse.



About the only way to get normal value would be to pull a fast one on the dealers somewhere. My son did that quite by accident a couple years ago. He had a Suburban that he used as a trade in on his 98 Dodge CTD. They didn't ask at the time of sale and trade in about his title condition. Later, after the deal was done and the state provided them with a "lost title" they came back yowling about his truck being a "salvaged title".



Oh well, buyer beware goes both ways...



On the truck you are talking about, you didn't post any info on it. So, I assumed it is a 2500 SRW and no frills. Kelley says it is worth $3,995 trade in "Fair Conditition". That's with only minor blemishes on paint, etc... AND a clear title. On any vehicle they will not give you a value at all if it needs mechanical repairs.



In my opinion, there is no margin for making a profit on that one.

I'm in Washington state.



It's a SRW, SLT Laramie. Clean title private party value in fair condition is $6500 here. Salvage titles here seem to drop values by 40ish percent on trucks.



Around here, CTD trucks are gold, you rarely see them for sale and by the time you do actually see one they are gone. I guess I am the only one who could decide if this truck is worth it.

If you can get it for 2500 bucks, put a cheap paint job on it and do the injection stuff you might be able to sell it for around 5k

Matthew, I'm with Erik on this one. Being from Spokane, I feel that your only hope of making a dime is w/ a cheap (read Macco-style-$200) paint job and only the repairs you feel absolutely necessary. OR... you could always make it into a hunting/camping rig!!! (obviously that is MY choice!)
